On October 11, 2024: Indian Red Cross Society,Punjab State Branch,Chandigarh in association with the National Rehabilitation Institute and South Asian Behavioral Health and Training (SABH) Foundation,USA actively participated a symposium on autism today at Rayat- Bahra University, Kharar, on the occasion of World Mental Health Day. The event aimed to promote awareness, understanding, and inclusive support for individuals with autism.

Dignitaries from the USA and Canada joined via video conferencing to share their expertise.
Dr. Sharanjit Kaur, Chairperson, Rehabilitation Council of India, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, Dr. Kaur said, “Interdisciplinary approaches and community involvement are crucial in addressing autism-related challenges.”

Renowned experts deliberated on various aspects of autism, including:

•Early intervention and diagnosis
•Inclusive education
•Family support and counseling
•Rehabilitation strategies

Speakers highlighted the significance of:

•Accessibility and inclusivity
The Secretary of the State Branch, S.Shivdular Singh Dhillon, IAS Retd addressed the audience and stressed, “Red Cross is committed to promoting inclusivity and social responsibility.” Dr. Dharamvir,
from PGIMER,Chandigarh added, “Collaboration is key to empowering individuals with autism and their families.”

The symposium provided a platform for:
